KEP Trust, the leading Microfinance Institution in Kosovo with a nationwide presence of 31 branches and over 260 employees, is seeking a dynamic and strategic CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER (CFO) to join its leadership team.
The CFO will be responsible for shaping and executing the financial strategy of the institution, ensuring robust financial operations, strict compliance with regulatory requirements—particularly those of the Central Bank of Kosovo—and sound financial planning. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of strong financial acumen, treasury expertise, and leadership capability to drive the institution’s growth and financial sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Finance Department to ensure sound financial controls, accurate accounting, and compliance with IFRS and internal policies.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of all financial and regulatory reports, including those required by the Central Bank of Kosovo.
- Develop and oversee annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and strategic financial planning in alignment with institutional goals.
- Manage treasury operations including cash flow forecasting, investment decisions, and maintaining strong lender and banking relationships.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with financial covenants; oversee lender reporting and support in the negotiation and structuring of funding agreements.
- Oversee the preparation and presentation of management accounts, board reports, and statutory financial statements.
- Provide strategic financial insights and scenario analysis to support decision-making at the executive level.
- Coordinate and ensure audit readiness; oversee internal and external audits and maintain a strong control environment.
- Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing finance team focused on efficiency, innovation, and compliance.
- As part of the management board of the institution, contribute to the design and implementation of the institution’s strategy, keeping in mind its mission.
- Contribute to and participate in the Board of Directors meetings.
- Support the CEO in all contexts, e.g. by proactively addressing challenges and opportunities within the microfinance sector in Kosovo from a financial perspective, particularly in digital transformation, risk management, and ESG principles as well as legal developments.
- Uphold KEP’s institutional values, promoting a culture of transparency, integrity, and innovation.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Professional certification (e.g., SCAAK, ACCA, CPA, CA) is required.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within a financial institution.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial control, regulatory compliance (especially with the Central Bank of Kosovo), and financial reporting.
- Proven track record in treasury and liquidity management, lender relationship management, and funding strategy.
- Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and strategic financial planning.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with external partners, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency with financial systems and tools, including advanced Excel skills and core banking software.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with a proactive approach.
- High moral and ethical standards, demonstrating integrity and commitment to responsible financial management and constructive collaboration with the management board members, the Board of Directors and the entire staff of the institution.
- Leadership skills to inspire, mentor, and evaluate team members effectively.
- Results-oriented with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet timelines under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in both Albanian and English (knowledge of Serbian is a plus).
